About Us
Welcome
The School Sisters of St. Francis is an international Franciscan
community of more than 1,200 sisters and associates serving in educational, prayer, healing, social and pastoral ministries in Europe, Latin America, India and the United States. We were founded in 1874 in Wisconsin and our international offices are located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.

Our mission is to witness to the Good News of Jesus Christ and the presence of the reign of God as we enter into the lives and needs of people, especially those who are poor.

Our General Assembly 2006 gave us the following direction:

As an International Congregation we call ourselves to:

  • deepen our relationships across provinces and strengthen our international identity,
  • take a strong position on behalf of the most vulnerable, especially women, children and Mother Earth,
  • be the Franciscan face of the Gospel, and
  • deepen our conviction that our community life is a witness much needed in the world today.

We invite you to learn more about us, and to join us on our journey of conversion, service and solidarity by browsing our web site.
