Capuchin Walk 2025

Sisters Step Up for Record-Setting Capuchin Walk

The 20th anniversary Capuchin Walk for the Hungry at Polish Fest on June 13 was the biggest and most successful yet, with more than 1,150 walkers, 53 teams, 32 corporate and family sponsors, and 719 donations.

School Sisters of St. Francis have been participating in the Capuchin Walk as a team or as individuals since 2013. This year, 25 sisters, associates, and friends of the community took part. Additionally, the team received donations from sisters and associates outside Milwaukee, including Sister Mary Acerbi in Tennessee and Associate Dee Suding in Indiana.

The goal for this year’s walk was $60,000 to support Capuchin Community Services’ ministries at the House of Peace, which provides food, clothing, and other assistance to individuals and families; and St. Ben’s Community Meal, an open-door ministry serving people experiencing homelessness and hunger since 1968. We are excited to report that donations far surpassed the goal, with a total of $79,488 raised!

“Thank you to everyone who joined us,” said Brother Henryk Cisowski, OFM Cap., ministry director for Capuchin Community Services. “Despite the chilly wind, your presence and enthusiasm filled the day with warmth and joy. This year’s walk broke records in both attendance and funds raised, all thanks to your incredible support!”

The U.S. Province Leadership Team extends its thanks as well to everyone on our team who helped make this year’s event such a success!
