The School Sisters of St. Francis share a common, worldwide focus on giving, healing, and defending life. Through a wide range of ministries, we join hands in partnership with our associates, benefactors, and friends to serve the needs of those who suffer from inequality, poverty, and hunger around the world.
In 1895, the first mission in Erlenbad, Germany, opened, and in 1907 our European Province was officially established.
Service to the people of Latin America began in 1932 when sisters from our European Province came to Honduras at the request of the Church.
In 1936, sisters from the European province began missionary work in India, and young women from India began to enter the convent in Germany.
Since the community’s founding in 1874, the School Sisters of St. Francis have responded to the call of the Church in the United States.
With your support, our sisters can make a forever difference in so many lives. We invite you to learn more about the missions where your support is most needed this year.
